What is Person-Centred Counselling?
A counsellor offers a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings, experiences and beliefs. Your counsellor will help you to explore these feelings and behaviours so you can build a better understanding of yourself and those around you.
A counsellor does not give advice, offer their opinions or prescribe medication. They will not tell you what to do or what to think. They will help you to reflect and find your own solutions.
Most counselling takes place in a planned, regular appointment session, which will last for 50 minutes. You will agree how often you see your counsellor and how many appointments you will have with your counsellor.
Counselling sessions can take place face to face in one of our comfortable practice rooms, or you might prefer to talk online or on the telephone.
Your counsellor will be guided by what you want to talk about, and what you would like to achieve through your sessions.
Your counsellor may share information, or signpost other helpful services to you, but they will not tell you what you should think or do. They are trained to be understanding and impartial.
